While 4K looks like a phenomenal leap forward in the hi-def viewing experience there’s still probably not enough stuff out there to justify spending the money on a 4K compatible TV right now. Although “In Saturn’s Rings” might be enough reason itself for all of us space geeks out there.
This movie is the product of Stephen van Vuuren who painstakingly pieced together over 1 million real photographs from over 25 different space missions, including Cassini-Huygens satellite which arrived at the Saturn system in 2004 to begin studying Saturn and its rings. Absolutely no 3D models or CGI were used in the making of this film.
The film is slated to be finished by the end of 2013 and released in early 2014. I don’t go out to movie theaters much anymore but this will definitely get me to my nearest IMAX theater. The visuals of this movie look simply amazing.
