anthony-stokes You might remember this story from last week when doctors originally denied the 15-year-old a heart transplant because of a “history of non-compliance”. As if anything a 15-year-old has done in his life is an actual reflection on what he will do as an adult to maintain his health and you know, live.

After a huge outcry on all around the internet the doctors almost immediately reversed their decision and gave Stokes access to the transplant list.

Stokes underwent a five hour surgery that went until midnight Tuesday night. He’s expected to stay in the hospital for seven to ten more days before he can go home.

The hospital didn’t say officially why the reversed their decision but the timing of it would suggest the reaction from actual sane people on the internet had quite a bit to do with it. Good for you Anthony, now prove these doctors wrong and do everything you’re supposed to do to keep this heart healthy. Take your medicine and don’t take it forgranted. Because you got this heart, someone else didn’t. You owe to yourself and to them to take the best care of it that you can.
