Red Clay School District in Delaware has put together the world’s tallest LEGO tower. The tower, which was built in sections in different classrooms, contained over 500,000 LEGO bricks. And it clocks in at a whopping 112 feet, 11 ¾inches tall or more than 10-stories high. The tallest LEGO tower in the world according the Guinness Book of World Records.

“Wow. Just — wow,” said Ralph Stormer, a Dickinson student who helped build some of the decorative exterior. “You know when you’re talking about a world record it’s going to be big. But seeing it now, it’s really cool.”

“We thought, ‘Hey, wouldn’t it be great to do something with LEGOs?’ And then we started talking about trying to break this record,” Assistant Superintendent Ted Ammann said. “We knew it was going to be a huge task, but I knew we were up to it.”

The tower is built around metal pole and has guy-wires holding it up to make sure it’s safe and doesn’t collapse over on itself.
