It’s been a little less than a month since Apple released its iPhone 5s and the entirely new iPhone 5c. As news comes out that the iPhone 5s is outselling all other handsets on the big four carriers and both the 5s and the 5c are outpacing everyone else on AT&T and Verizon it’s easy to forget what mobile phones were like pre-iPhone.

It’s hard to imagine that just a little over six years ago these little things on which so much of our lives our now dependent, didn’t even exist.

Even if you happen to be the one person in the world that doesn’t at least know someone with an iPhone it’s likely that you know someone with an Android phone that pretty much mimics the iPhones touchscreen functionality (don’t send me hate mail I realize there are huge differences in the platforms, I am generalizing here).

If you ever find yourself doubting Apple’s impact on the mobile market just take a look at this list of the top 10 mobile phones of 2007. In retrospect it’s hilarious that the iPhone was only listed as the third best phone on that list even though technically the phone hadn’t even been released when that post was published. I think it’s fair to say that the original iPhone was the top mobile device of 2007.
