I’ve lived in NYC for the past 15 years but having not grown up here I am fascinated by old subway photos. By the time I moved here the whole graffiti covered subway cars blight had ended. It’s really amazing how clean the cars are now days especially when you see old photos like this.

This photo was taken for Time Magazine by photographer Ted Thai circa 1981 (I think). I love how no one on the car gives a shit and couldn’t be more apathetic that Meryl Streep is standing there posing for a picture. I ♡ NY.
