A lot of people use YouTube for listening to music on their phones. A complaint I hear often is that when streaming audio on the iPhone the audio cuts out if you lock your phone. This means the screen has to stay on which eats up battery life even quicker. With Android phones there are YouTube app replacements that solve this issue. What many people don’t know is that streaming music with your iPhone locked is actually pretty simple.
How to listen to YouTube audio on a locked iPhone
- Navigate to YouTube using Chrome (or Safari, FF etc.)
- Search for whatever you want to listen to.
- Press the home button and close the browser. This will stop the video from playing.
- Swipe up the bottom menu and whatever you were listening to is loaded up. Press play, lock your phone and enjoy your audio.
That’s it.
Does this stream the audio data only, or does it still burn video megabytes?
