I haven’t forgotten about Slothed and all the fans and readers that have always kept the site going. I am actively working on getting it started up again and will be posting regularly very soon. What do you guys think the focus should be in 2016? I would love to hear what you have to say in the comment section.

I was on RollingStone.com the other day and every post title reminded me of crappy linkbait style headlines from bloggers 10 years ago. We can do better than than. Leave a comment and let us know what you’d like to see. Is blogging dead? Should I just start a YouTube channel? What’s the buzz?

  1. James, nice to have you back! In 2016 it’d be nice to see a good mix of light, positive, and yet real information. Most “news” sources are biased in some way, negative and heavily opinionated. It’d be nice to see a spin that looks at what’s right with people/the world instead of always what’s wrong with shit. Thanks!

    1. Thanks Brian, this is a great idea. I’m definitely not going to be delving into anything heavy and get into a he said she said with the, as you rightly put it, “biased” news sources. Reporting on good things for a while would be a nice change. The challenge with those kinds of stories is finding the ones that have just the right amount of information so you’re still learning something (which is what will keep people interested). And just being completely hokie. Does that make sense?

      1. James, yes that makes perfect sense. I’ve followed your site for a few years now and I feel like you’ve got the tools to write interesting and relevant things. I don’t have the answers for how to find the stories but I’m confident that with the information with no borders thing we got going on, a lot of people are probably looking for positive things. You’re a good writer, a lot of people like your style. Maybe this will help to get a conversation going on how to find interesting things to hear and talk about?

        1. Thank you for the kind words. I’m going back on forth on what medium I should use to move forward. I love blogging and always have. I’ve been “blogging” since before it was even called blogging. I used to code every article myself and publish them on a weekly basis.

There are conversation that I would like to have and that I think need to be had. I have to figure out whether those ideas can be conveyed in a blog post (and whether or not people would actually read long form writing anymore. Or whether podcasting our YouTubing is more in line with what I need to be doing.

        2. I was looking at a science type of concept concentrating on global science and trying to make it interactive, relevant and fun. I ran into the exact same type of issue, how to create an audience and keep them interested. I never came up with a solution but I did find someone who may have. His name is Andy Shaw. He’s an author in the UK. He published a self help type of concept called “A Bug Free Mind”. His work is really impressive but even more impressive is his online presence. He says anyone can accomplish the same. Maybe he’s found something that we’re missing? I don’t know:)
